EXTRAVAGANZA 2021 EVENT INFORMATION

We are excited to offer the Extravaganza as an On-Line and On-Site event in 2021!

What is the Extravaganza?

The Extravaganza is the premier event for faith formation leaders in ELCA congregations. The event is held by the ELCA Youth Ministry Network. Every (non-COVID) year, 700-1000 adults who work with children, youth and families gather for spiritual renewal, continuing education and networking and support.  In 2021, because the event has been re-created to exist in both an On-Line and On-Site (in-person) environment, we anticipate an even larger community gathering.

Extravaganza 2021 will explore God’s call to “Hold Loosely” and to trust in the one who comes to create, to redeem and to sustain. This is more important now than ever, as we live and do ministry in a time of pandemic, of racial injustice and unrest, of social division and political turmoil.

Our conversation and learning at #ext21 will center around five questions:

  • How do we help those we work with navigate the grief of losing “normal?” How do we navigate that same grief for ourselves?

  • How do we care for ourselves in the midst of accompanying others in their pain?

  • How do we navigate change?

  • What should we do next?

  • How do we find hope in the midst of chaos?


On-Line Event:
February 5-6, 2021

On-Site Event:
February 4-6, 2021

The On-Line event begins Friday morning with General Session #1, and concludes Saturday afternoon with the pre-recorded Closing Worship. On-Line participants will receive an email in early February with details on how to access the General Sessions and Zoom workshops. 

Host-Sites are available across the country for smaller groups to gather for the On-Line Extravaganza. Registration and any fees to participate at a Host-Site are separate from your Extravaganza registration. Click here for more information on Host-Sites.

On-Line registration includes login information to access General Sessions and Workshops, the On-Line Exhibit Hall, and the Cranberry Jam livestream.

The On-Site event at the Hilton Minneapolis begins Thursday evening with dinner and worship and concludes Saturday afternoon following Learning Option #4. On-Site participants will have the opportunity to be the “in studio” audience for the General Sessions. During Learning Options, On-Site participants can join one of three workshops offered On-Site, or join one of the nine workshops offered via Zoom on a personal device.

On-Site registration includes one dinner, opening worship, General Sessions, Learning Options (On-Site or On-Line), online Exhibit Hall, and the Cranberry Jam.

Registration is limited to 100 participants. We will be following safety guidelines set by the state of MN and Hilton Hotel for this event. Please read through the COVID-19 Statement and Cancellation Policy before registering for the On-Site event.
