What is Spiritual Direction?
“…it is helping people tell their sacred stories everyday.” Liz Budd Ellmann
Spiritual direction is a sacred space set aside for individuals or groups to connect with deep questions, longings, and life experiences that invite meaningful soul searching and connection. All ages, races, genders, religious or non-religious people are welcome to sit in this sacred space, to be safe, to be known, and to let their soul speak.
Deacon Shannon Savage-Howie has been meeting with people for spiritual direction for nearly a decade. She is passionate about creating space for people to connect more deeply with the self and the sacred. After spending many years working in congregations doing children, youth, and family ministry, Shannon now focuses her time on spiritual direction—meeting with individuals, as well as connecting with clients in a residential substance abuse treatment facility. As a lifelong learner, in the past year she has completed her certification both as a yoga instructor, as well as a facilitator for community storytelling. She lives in Thousand Oaks, California with her husband and 3 young children. For more information you can find her at www.ransackedsoul.com.
